It’s a great tragedy for the movie and music lovers all across the world as the news of James Horner– the award winning composer of Titanic, has died in a horrible plane crash on June-22, 2015 into the Los Padres National Forest in southern California. He was 61. It has been confirmed by his assistant Sylvia Patrycja through her Facebook page with following message.
“We have lost an amazing person with a huge heart and unbelievable talent [who] died doing what he loved.”
Various international news outlets reported that Horner was killed when a variant of the Embraer EMB 312 Tucano turboprop aircraft, the Short Tucano, crashed on the previously mentioned location. Horner’s attorney said that they know it was his plane and also they haven’t heard of him, but did not say whether the identity of the pilot had been established. On June 23, his representatives at the Gorfaine/Schwartz Agency posted a message on their website, confirming that Horner, the only person aboard the aircraft, was killed.
The veteran composer, conductor and orchestrator was born August 14, 1953 in Los Angeles to Joan Ruth (Frankel) and Harry Horner, who was a set designer and occasional art-director. He had a brother, Christopher Horner, who is a writer and documentary filmmaker.
One of the major film score that Horner did was the The Lady in Red (1979). Some of his other notable scores include An American Tail (1986), The Land Before Time (1988), The Rocketeer and An American Tail: Fievel Goes West (1991), Once Upon a Forest and We’re Back! A Dinosaur’s Story (all in 1993), The Pagemaster (1994), and Casper, Jumanji, and Balto (all from 1995) and Mighty Joe Young (1998) and How the Grinch stole Christmas (2000). But one of his very famous work is James Cameron’s Titanic (1997) which had won eleven Oscar awards, including the awards for Best Picture and Best Director.
His final work before his death was for the upcoming sports-drama film “Southpaw” which stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Forest Whitaker, and Rachel McAdams.
