It is with great sadness with which are posting this tragic news. Prominent folk singer Bipul Bhattacharya passed away at the capital’s Ahmad Medical around 9:30 am Friday (May-26, 2017). He was 58. According to his long time former Betar colleague and a noted singer, Fakir Alamgir, Mr. Bhattacharya has been suffering from lung cancer since 2010. Source – bdnews24.com.
According to the information given by Nasiruddin Yusuf Bachchu, president of the Sammilito Sanskritik Jote, “His body was taken to Chayanat from the hospital in the morning and then it was taken to his Mohammadpur residence. It was kept later at the BIRDEM for the night.”
He was taken Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka on Saturday 11am for people to pay their last respect before the cremation which was held at the Postogola Cremotry.
He left behind his wife, one son, one daughter and so many fans. followers and well-wishers.
Bipul Bhattacharya was born in Kishoreganj in 1955. He lived by singing and teaching songs. He has inspired the masses for the independence through his singing at Swadhin Bangla Betar during 1971 at the tender age of 16.
He was detected with lung cancer in Mumbai’s Tata Memorial Hospital in 2010. But he had to return to Bangladesh without completing the treatment as he could not bear the cost. He was administered chemotherapy at Delta Hospital.
Later he was admitted to the capital’s Samorita Hospital last month and again shifted to Ahmed Medical where he made his last breath.
