Notable Bangladeshi singer Ferdousi Rahman has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for her outstanding contributions to the enrichment of music during the ceremony of the 10th Citycell Channel I Music Award, held at Dhaka’s Mirpur Stadium on June-15, 2015.
Faridur Reza Sagor, managing director of Impress Telefilm and Channel I; Taslim Ahmed, head of corporate communications and public relations of Citycell; musicologist and brother of the awardee Mustafa Zaman Abbasi and singer Sabina Yasmin handed over the award to her.
Mrs. Rahman said, “I have received many awards in my life but this one is special. I will always remember this honor.”
Ferdousi Rahman, formerly known as Ferdousi Begum is the daughter of the famous folk singer Abbas Uddin. She started her career as a child artist by participating in many radio programs, but she sang as an adult in 1955 in the radio. The first released movie where she sang as a playback singer was Ehtesham‘s ‘Ei Desh Tomar Amar’ under the music direction of Khan Ataur Rahman in 1959, followed by ‘Asia’ in 1960 in which one the director was her father.
