Dhaka Metal Fest -2017

Metalheads all around across Bangladesh will witness something big tomorrow at the National Library Auditorium. Every single soul present there will going to be part of the most awaited international concert of all time. Yes folks, we are talking about the first edition of Dhaka Metal Fest.

Hosted by The Rock Project Dhaka & Maximum Noise – Metal, Punk, Alternative Music, the show will focus some of the famous and upcoming bands of the country. That’s not all. There will be an international act who will headline this show. This year the organizers have brought Desecravity – the acclaimed Technical/Brutal Death Metal Quartet from Tokyo, Japan. Currently signed by the esteemed US based label Willowtip Records. They will be invading Bangladesh for the very first time as a part of their 2017, Asia Tour.

The second headliner will be none other than Severe Dementia (Death Metal from Dhaka, Bangladesh).
A band that perhaps needs no introduction to the local metal enthusiasts. With their influential debut EP and a few overseas tours, the Tech death metallers took the Bangladeshi extreme metal scene to a new level.

Supporting Bands (in alphabetical order):

Eclipse (Progressive Metal from Dhaka, Bangladesh)
Anyone who used to enjoy D’Rockstar is likely to have a nostalgia as Eclipse is going to be part of Dhaka Metal Fest, 2017. The Prog Metal quintet was formed in 2004, and they made a huge impact in the nationwide TV Show D’ Rockstars 2, where they were a finalist. Last year, they finally released their highly anticipated debut full length, and it was critically acclaimed. We are expecting them to perform tracks from their debut album at DMF-17.

Enmachined (Thrash Metal from Dhaka, Bangladesh)
These bone crushing thrash metalers have underwent to some lineup changes since the formation. Whenever these old school thrashers hit the stage and bestow high pitched thrilling vocals, maniacal riffs and neck cracking solos, crowds can hardly refrain themselves from chanting their names and be part of the violent moshpit. It hardly happens when crowds are singing along with an extreme metal band, but crowds surely do it when it comes to Enmachined, and thus makes them as a crowd favorite act at the drop of a hat. With a demo and a split release (with Filipino death metaller Toxemia), Enmachined have shared stages with prestigious bands like ImpietyFunerus, and Riverge.

Eternal Armageddon (Black/Thrash Metal from Dhaka, Bangladesh)
Originally started their voyage as a Melodic Black Metal band, Eternal Armageddon currently plays a chaotic form of Black/Thrash metal in the same vein of the elder gods of black metal. The trio has already shared stage with Defiled (Japan), Funerus (USA) and some other killer acts. Their full length is on the way, and what a way to welcome them in the roster of the concert.

Grimorium Verum (Death Metal from Khulna, Bangladesh)
This band has played the most important role to run the wheel of metal scene of Khulna. Their dedication toward extreme metal music inspired other bands and organizers from Khulna to strengthen the local metal scene. Incorporating the elements and aesthetics of black, thrash, heavy metal as well as neoclassical and symphonic music, the quintet turned their death metal sound to an interesting outcome while retaining the gruesome atmosphere of death metal.

Nekrohowl (Death Metal from Dhaka, Bangladesh)
The band originally started as a 4-piece Death Metal band, consisting of members of some other prestigious local extreme metal band. Soon they released their menacing demo and invaded Kolkata. Currently they are active as a trio and their monstrous lineup consists of Obliterator (Homicide), Sadist (Enmachined, Nafarmaan) and Warmonger (Warhound, Ex-Orator). The sadistic death metal trip will be playing in DMF17 as a part of their Agonize and Excruciate Tour!

Psychotron (Thrash Metal from Sylhet, Bangladesh)
This Hillside Thrash metallers have undoubtedly played an important role to develope the metal scene of Sylhet. The band was formed back in 2011, when the metal scene of Sylhet was still in its infant stage. Their latest EP “Lethal Paralysis” has got positive admiration from the critics and listeners from all over the world.

Quanta (Progressive/Psychedelic Metal from Dhaka, Bangladesh)
Formed in 2012, Quanta — the 4 piece Prog/Psychedelic Metal group from Dhaka — is possessing reclusive, thoughtful and meticulous sound and live performances which contain electrifying visuals, breathtaking light-shows along with proficient sound offering the audience an indelible experience. Their astounding music is having the diversities of Prog Metal, hallucinatory effects of Psych, aesthetics of Ambient and power of blood fuelling Old-School Heavy Metal music. Quanta is well-known for their distinctive live performances of TOOL numbers. “The Root”, debut released single from their upcoming album, has been critically acclaimed in the International Prog communities. Earlier this year, they opened for Guthrie Govan in Dhaka.

Surtur (Thrash Metal from Dhaka, Bangladesh) made a bang in the worldwide underground metal scene with their EP “Descendant of Time”. Their ripping, savage form of thrash metal music gained very positive appraisal from both critics and listeners, and very soon they got signed by esteemed German metal label “Witches Brew”. Surtur recently played in India, and they will be dropping suplex at DMF-17.

Early bird tickets costs Tk 500 ($ 6.16) which is already sold out. The regular ticket which will be found at the venue will cost Tk 600 ($ 7.39).

Regarding the show Zoheb Mahmud – founder of Maximum Noise – Metal, Punk, Alternative Music has said a few words with Mega Insane.

“DMF is intending to break the boundary by involving both extreme and less extreme sounding metal bands, it’s an initiative to put the weight on quality metal acts from any genre of metal music. In addition, this fest is also giving the local bands outside Dhaka —the capital city — to demonstrate their performance; usually Bangladeshi bands outside Dhaka hardly get the chance to perform in the high voltage metal events of the capital city. Entire amount of profit earned from this event will be donated to the victims of 2017 Bangladesh Landslides. Of course, DMF is not a charity or fundraising event, but when such kinda hazardous incident took place inside our own country, we decided to donate the profit of the event to the victims.”

SO WHAT ARE YOU GUYS WAITING FOR?! GET READY TO FOR SOME VIOLENT STORM!!!
