It is indeed a great tragedy for all the music lovers across the world as we announce the passing away of Sib Hashian. He died on Wednesday night of March-22 while performing on a cruise ship.
According to TMZ.com, his son Adam told that the 67-year-old former drummer of the rock band Boston was collapsed while performing on the Legends of Rock Cruise. He died after attempts to resuscitate him using CPR and a defibrillator were unsuccessful.
His wife Suzanne Hashian also expressed her grief by saying the following post.
“It is with deep and profound sadness I share the news of my husband’s, John ‘Sib’ Hashian, the drummer formerly of the band Boston, sudden death.”
Born on August-17, 1949 in Boston and later lived in Lynnfield, Massachusetts, he was of Italian/American ancestry. He joined Boston in 1975 when Epic Records demanded and asked founder Tom Scholz to replace original drummer Jim Masdea for recording. He has recorded on the band’s first two albums including the self-titled debut album and the follow-up “Don’t Look Back.” Hashian was also the drummer for fellow Boston member Barry Goudreau‘s self-titled solo album which was released in 1980. The album achieved moderate success with the rock radio hit “Dreams”. In 2003 he appeared on Sammy Hagar’s Live: Hallelujiah as an unofficial member of The Waboritas. He was known for his characteristic permed Afro hairstyle.
Beside his Adam, Sib has two daughters. Songwriter, Aja Hashian and singer-songwriter Lauren Hashian, who has been in a relationship with wrestler and actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson since 2007. The Hashian sisters write and produce musically together.
In memory of this great drummer, we would like to share one of Boston’s greatest hit.
