
Sad news for the fans of Aurthohin, as the band’s frontman and bassist Saidus Salehin Khaled (Sumon) better known as Bassbaba and his son Ahnaf Salehin Khaled have been tested positive for COVID 19.
The news was posted by the artist on his personal Facebook profile. He wrote,
“Ahnaf and I tested positive for Covid-19. Everyone please keep us in your prayers.”
BB has been battling cancer for almost a decade now, and was undergoing treatment abroad.
His last public appearance was at the Joy Bangla concert on March 7 at Army Stadium in the capital, where he made a surprise performance alongside his longtime musical companion, music director Fuad Al Muqtadir.
One of the famous singer-songwriter-musician of Bangladesh, Sumon has previously played for other iconic bands such as Feelings and Warfaze (Oshamajik -1998). He founded Aurtohin in 1998 and released 7 studio albums and countless singles in various compilation albums. He has also released several solo albums; as well a bass instrumental album title Soul Food part-1 in 2016.
Considered as the most influential and best bassists in the country, Sumon earned the nick of “Bassbaba” for his unique and flamboyant style of bass playing. He is a signed artist of Roland amplifiers and MTD Bass. He have his own signature bass.
He is currently serving as the assistant general secretary for Bangladesh Musical Band’s Association (BAMBA), and director of Khaled Group of Companies.
