Authohin bassist and frontman Saidus Salehin Khaled Sumon, better known to everybody as “Bassbaba” – has been involved in a freak road accident in Sukhumvit, Thailand. The incident happened on June when a microbus hit him from behind while he was trying to cross the road.
He had a terrible blow in his face as well as other parts of the body. He was then rushed to the nearby Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital. He is currently admitted there. He had to go through an excruciating 11-hour long surgery.
The singer went to Thailand for a health check-up, and he had a minor surgery at the same hospital that day. The accident took place while he was returning to his hotel from the hospital.
Although the incident took place in last month, the news only surfaced when Sumon himself shared the incident with Bangla Tribune.
According to his Facebook post and the interview given to the news portal he said,
“As soon as I was taken to the hospital, a doctor who knew me beforehand took over. He paid my bills and ordered the hospital authorities to start the surgery. I’m lucky that my spine was not damaged because it already has three metal sheet fillers. If anything happened near my spine, the situation would have been untenable. As far as I can recall is that the driver was a woman.”
The singer’s condition is improving but will take another month to fully recover. Sumon has undergone many surgeries due to his cancer, and has recently went through a major one for removing his stomach due to high level of acidity.
His first bass instrumental album Soul Food – Part 1 has been released last year which features renowned bassists like Josh Cohen, Felix Patorius, Robert ‘Bubby’ Lewis among others.
His first solo album was released back in 1997 titled Sumon O’ Aurthohin . Sumon has founded Aurthohin back in 1999 after leaving Warfaze. Their first album Trimatrik was released in 2000 and gained the heart of every rock lovers.
Recently on July-2, it was confirmed that he has been announced as the official artist of Boss and Roland. He also endorses MTD bass and Gruvgear musical accessories.
